A large fire at the Ice Recycling Warehouse on Cedar Street in Lake City was reported at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night, November 14th. Lake City Fire Department responded with three Engines, one Ladder and a Service-Rescue Truck. Upon arrival, they found a large warehouse with heavy fire involvement in the front right corner. A call was made for assistance from South Lynches Fire Department, which responded with three Engines, a Tower-Ladder and a Service-Rescue. As an initial attack was being made, the fire quickly spread throughout the warehouse. A defensive attack was made with additional assistance from Olanta Fire Department, who sent a Ladder Truck and Howe Springs Fire Department that responded with an Engine and Ladder Truck. The fire was confined to the building of origin, which had several other warehouses exposed close by. Assistance was also given by Florence County EMS, Florence County Public Works, and Lake City Police Department.
The Fire was brought under control in about two hours, with firefighters remaining on the scene throughout the night and most of the next day. There were no injuries, and the cause is under investigation.
